Violin
A
native of Korea, Ms. Soo Min Jung began her musical studies at age
of nine. Ms.Jung's numerous prizes and awards include the
First-Prize in the Pusan National Competition, Kyung-Nam Daily
news competition, and Grand prize in the Ms. Jung came to the US
in 1993 and enrolled Juilliard Pre-college while attending
Professional Children's School at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Since, Ms. Jung has won the violin competition held by the Mannes
College of Music, gave recitals both in Korea and US and has
appeared as a soloist with the Masan Philharmonic Orchestra and
Chang-Won Symphony Orchestra in Korea. Ms. Jung gave her concerto
debut with New York Seoul Symphony Orchestra at Merkin Concert
Hall in New York City and in 2002, she has won the Artist
International Competition only after the performance of
preliminary round. Ms. Jung has participated world renown music
festivals such as Sarasota Music Festival (two consecutive years)
and Music Academy of the West as a full scholarship student. She
has further participated in international festivals such as Aspen,
Aria, Yellow-Barn Music festivals and International Orchestra
Institute of Attergau in Vienna. Her teachers includes, Sally
Thomas, Sylvia Rosenberg, Peter Salaff, and Curtis Macomber and
participated in master classes of Joseph Silverstein, Mauris Fuks,
James Buswell, Kenneth Cooper, Pamela Frank and Joseph Seiger. Ms.
Jung received diploma from The Juilliard School Pre-College and
Bachelor's and Master's from the Manhattan School of Music and
candidate of Master of Arts in Music Education at Columbia
University.
